Music Review: The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem

This, as with Eminem’s other albums, is pure genius. While many rap artists lyrically are superb, what sets Eminem apart from the majority is the music that underpins his lyrics. A prime example of this is his huge hit “Stan” which samples Dido’s hit “Thankyou” and arguably improves on the original in the process. With other hits such as “The Real Slim Shady” and “The Way I Am” brought in to the mix this, in my opinion is rap/hip-hop music at its best.

The only downside are the “skits” which feature on Eminem albums, and while the odd one is funny they add nothing to the album and I find myself hitting the skip track button when they come on. Thankfully, they are about the only bad thing on this album and short enough not to get in the way of the great music that is found on this CD.
