Steelers ‘a club in Crisis’ says owner.

Bob Phillips, owner of the Sheffield Steelers today openly admitted what many fans have felt for a while, the club is in crisis.  Phillips pulls no punches in his statement citing the league regaining on the wage cap agreed before the start of the season, injuries and simply not being good enough as reasons for the teams current league  position.

Meanwhile, head coach Dave Matsos says he has ‘never been so embarrassed’.  In his statement he promises changes, as does Mike O’Connor in his statement, but we have heard that before and seen nothing while other teams have had no problems bringing in fresh talent.  Actions speak louder than words, so I’ll believe it when I see it.

Finally well done to the Hull Stingrays who for the first time in their history beat the Steelers away in the league, that includes previous incarnations of the Humberside club too.  Given the Stingrays current league position, it is perhaps a sign of just how far the Steelers have fallen.
