Giants beat Blaze to take opening honours

The Belfast Giants came out 4-2 winners over the Coventry Blaze the season opener Charity Shield match in Coventry last night.

Dan Welch opened the scoring in the 1st, with Craig Peacock making it 2-0 early in the 2nd.  The Blaze tied things up with goals from Luke Fulgham and Jonathan Weaver before Belfast’s Josh Prudden scored the winner five minutes from time. Rich Seeley sealed the victory with an empty net goal in the closing seconds.

Giants were without Brandon Benedict, Mike Hoffman and Graeme Walton who are all due to be in the line-up when the season properly get under way in just over a week.
