Google Apps gets full full Google service, well maybe not just yet.

Over 60 Google services are to be made available to Google Apps users without the need for a separate Google Account. Services such as Google News, Reader, Picasa and more have been added to Email, Calendar, Docs and Sites. Well that’s the theory anyway.

I decided to transition a domain on to the new system to take advantage of this, bringing all the various Google services I use under one roof, or so I thought.  Most users on the domain have transferred across successfully, but not all.

Essentially if you have a separate Google account with the same email address as an Apps email address (known as a conflicting account) and use any of these services, your account cannot as yet be transitioned.

  • Adwords
  • Affiliate Network
  • Analytics
  • Books Partner Program
  • DART Enterprise
  • DART for Advertisers
  • DART for Publishers
  • DART Search
  • DoubleClick AdPlanner
  • DoubleClick Customer Resource Center
  • DoubleClick Studio
  • Google Ads Professionals
  • Places
  • Voice
  • YouTube Content Manager

Sadly, with features such as Analytics being in this list, I expect those likely to be most interested in this transition are also those most likely to not be able to take advantage.

I’m undecided as to whether or not to change the email address on my one account I know is a ‘conflicting account’. If it solves the issue and allows my Google Apps account to complete the transition great, but it might not be that simple and could leave me with yet another email address I don’t need.
